French skincare has made a significant impact on the skin care industry, with the Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre being one of the cult favorites. Today I’ll be sharing my personal opinion on this cult favorite moisturizer and if I think it’s worth the hype.
What is it?
This cult classic moisturizer has been a staple in many French makeup artist kits for years! Embryolisse products are typically considered French pharmacy staples but this face cream is their best seller by far.
Let’s talk about what makes this moisturizer so popular!
Texture
To me, the texture of this moisturizer is what differentiates it from other product options on the market. It’s a thin, creamy lotion that feels incredibly smooth and silky on the skin. While the texture is thinner, it still feels rich and nourishing. It melts into the skin like butter and leaves a comfortable satin veil-like texture on the skin. Not too oily or heavy.
It works incredibly well under makeup, which is why so many makeup artists use it as a makeup primer on clients. It leaves a beautiful skin-like, satin finish!
Ingredients
This cream has a pretty simple ingredient list, but it features a few great nourishing ingredients. The brand claims that it’s formulated with natural origin active ingredients like aloe vera and soy proteins.
The two highlight-worthy ingredients are:
– Shea Butter: Shea butter acts as an emollient to support your skin barrier and provide essential fatty acids for your skin.
– Aloe Vera: A naturally soothing ingredient that helps to calm the skin.
Another thing to note: this formula, unlike many moisturizers, is not formulated with commonly-found humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid. This gives it a more nourishing, slightly waxy texture that leaves a satin-like finish on the skin. If your skin is dehydrated, be sure to apply it on damp skin to add in hydration!
This particular formula does have a slight powdery/perfume-like scent, but if you are more sensitive or prefer no scent, they do have a sensitive skin option that is fragrance free!
Full ingredient list:
AQUA (WATER). PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM. STEARIC ACID. PALMITIC ACID. GLYCERYL STEARATE SE. TRIETHANOLAMINE. CERA ALBA (BEESWAX). CETYL PALMITATE. BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER. 1,2-HEXANEDIOL. CAPRYLYL GLYCOL. STEARETH-10. POLYACRYLAMIDE. C13-14 ISOPARAFFIN. PARFUM (FRAGRANCE). LAURETH-7. PROPYLENE GLYCOL. TROPOLONE. HYDROLYZED SOY PROTEIN. ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF EXTRACT.
Price
The price per amount for this moisturizer is one of the best selling points! It’s a high quality cream and you can get 2.54 oz for about $28! They also have a travel size that’s $16 for 1 oz. Honestly, a little goes a long way with this one so the travel size will still last awhile!
Recommended for
Skin type: Dry skin types would love this! If you deal with dry skin in the colder months, this product will help keep your skin nourished.
If you have oily skin or combination skin, this may feel a bit too heavy for you. However, if you want to use it as a primer, you could use a very small amount to provide a smooth base.
How to use
Some recommend to apply moisturizers to clean dry skin but I recommend applying on damp skin instead! This provides a little extra hydration and helps your moisturiser glide on easily.
To add this to your skincare routine, cleanse, apply any toners, essences, or serums, and then apply this cream.
When my skin feels extra dry, sometimes I’ll apply a thick layer of this cream almost like a skin repairing mask. I always wake up with soft, nourished skin in the morning.
Overall Review of the Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre
Overall, I really enjoy this cream and it’s a solid addition to my skincare routine! To me, this is definitely worth the hype – it’s a really good one.
However, I will say, if your skin is sensitive or if you’re very acne prone, this may not be the best option due to the added parfum and nourishing formula. I think this would work best for dry skin that needs extra nourishment.
I personally try a LOT of moisturizers but have a few I always keep on rotation. This is one I reach for on the days I wear makeup because it works so well as a primer. If you want an everyday moisturizer that nourishes your skin and works well under makeup, this is a great option!
