Since working from home in March, putting effort in for makeup has been on the back burner for me. However, I’ve been wanting to look a little more put together for my Zoom calls in the new year. If you’re in the same boat, here’s what I’ve been grabbing for a quick glowy makeup look – no brushes needed.
Base Makeup
I’m honestly really minimal with my face makeup these days. My skin prefers it, and I just don’t have the time or patience to put on foundation. Instead, I use a tinted sunscreen in my skincare routine to keep things simple. The DRMTLGY Tinted SPF 46* gives me a natural glow with “barely there” coverage. Full review here!
Besides that, I consistently reach for a hydrating concealer. Got to hide those dark circles somehow! I’ve been enjoying the Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Concealer because it provides medium coverage and looks natural on the skin. I use it under my eyes and to spot conceal any blemishes or discoloration.
Cheeks
As someone who used to love powder cheek products, 2020 has made me a convert. I’ve been gravitating towards cream/liquid blushes and highlighters for that natural, glowy makeup look.
If you love a dewy finish, you need the Em Cosmetics Serum Blush in your life. This is a unique makeup-skincare hybrid that gives a natural flush to the cheeks while nourishing the skin. Venetian Rose has been my go-to shade – it’s a wine color perfect for the fall & winter months. I use one drop for both cheeks and tap it into the skin for a flushed cheek in seconds.
After that, I go in with cream/liquid highlighters, which give the perfect “lit from within” glow. A newer find I’ve been enjoying is the Rare Beauty Liquid Luminizer in Mesmerize. The chunky doe foot applicator makes it easy to swipe onto the cheeks, and it blends into the skin seamlessly without looking too shimmery or glittery.
A more affordable option I love is the Colourpop Super Shock Highlighters. At only $8 a piece, these have an amazing silky formula with a variety of shades for all skin tones. My go-to shade is Lunch Money, a neutral champagne shade.
I like to apply highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones, nose bridge, and the inner corner of my eyes. This gives a natural, glowy look that helps your eyes look more awake (a bonus if you’re an insomniac like me).
Eyes
For the eyes, I like to keep things really simple – I just curl my lashes and apply mascara. This step really opens up your eyes and makes you look instantly more put together. I’ve been reaching for the Canmake Lash Curler Mascara*, which is the only mascara that can hold a curl on my stubborn Asian lashes. If I have a little extra time, I like to tightline my eyes to help define my lash line a little more with the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in BlackNoir.
Lips
Lastly, my final step in this quick makeup look is the lips. I’ve been reaching for tinted lip balms and hydrating glosses, and have found some new favorites! I love a hydrating lip product that provides a little touch of color because they’re much more low maintenance than a traditional lipstick. And my dry lips appreciate the nourishment too!
Some of my favorites include the Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss and the Tower 28 Lip Jelly. I just swipe these on quickly right before my Zoom call starts, and I feel put together and ready to go.
And that’s it – if you’re like me and you roll out of bed 10 minutes before your meeting starts, this is a quick glowy makeup look that will make you look more put together in just a few minutes.
